At WaterSchool, we advance the health and well-being of Uganda's most vulnerable families and communities.

We start by delivering access to clean, safe water–an essential component of long-term health. When families are able to access a safe water supply, they are empowered to pursue education, business, community investment and a brighter, more just future for their children.

Alongside water access and extensive training in sanitation and hygiene techniques, WaterSchool transforms communities by addressing all the components of health — from education to economics, social structures to environmental health.

Through simple, inexpensive and sustainable solutions, we empower communities to lift themselves out of poverty.

In 2023 Water School celebrates five years with its partner, Africa Water Solutions

In 2017, Water School decided to reorganize its agency in Uganda. Many excellent, younger people took on bigger responsibilities and women took a larger role in managing our programs.

Africa Water Solutions was born in January 2018 and now has 56 professional staff. A new board of directors was recruited, with the AWS board being chaired by the distinguished Professor of Medicine at Makerere University, Dr Ponsiano Ocama, as the Chair. The board has diverse business backgrounds including finance, construction and education.

My children suffer from diarrhea, cough and typhoid due to consumption of dirty water. Most of my money is spent on hospital bills.
