When the Water School began its projects in Kenya, CMA was its first implementing partner. Together, CMA and the Water School implemented the SAFE STEP Water project in Kajiado North district, home of the Maasai people and the CLEAR Water project in seven districts within Nyanza province. There are currently 62 schools in both districts implementing the Water School program with incredible success.

MCC, together with Water School is implementing a pilot program of one year to improve water and health conditions within the community served by Menno Kids Academy, a Global Family project of MCC. Menno Kids Academy is located in Mathare North slum, one of the worst slums in Africa. The components of this pilot project will include clean water and improved sanitation resulting in improved overall health and education not only at the academy, but in the surrounding community.

Located in Vancouver, Mulgrave School runs a Global Outreach Programme which among many things, develops global awareness, fosters compassion and empathy and promotes cross-cultural understanding among its students. The Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Sciences and Technology (EAWAG) is among the world’s leading aquatic research institutes. Its research focuses on aquatic ecosystems, urban water systems as well as chemicals and effects. Eawag’s Department of Water and Sanitation in Developing Countries (Sandec) has a mandate to assist in developing appropriate and sustainable water and sanitation concepts and technologies adapted to the different physical and socio-economic conditions prevailing in developing countries. Consequently, the development of the solar water disinfection (SODIS) was made by Eawag. The Water School works closely with Eawag as an implementing partner and as a SODIS research counterpart.
